First Schuylkill River Park Clean Up A Great Success!
As part of Fairmount Park Philadelphia Cares Day, Free Schuylkill River Park sponsored a clean-up of the Park on Saturday, May 21st. Tom Vernon, Perry Benson, Marina Stuart, Amy Greer and Mark Murphy helped us pick up an ENORMOUS amount of trash at the two grade crossings, along the tracks and inside the Park. No thanks to CSX, who blocked both crossings with garbarge trains from 8:02 to 10 am. But, many thanks to our valient volunteers! We hope everyone notices the difference.
More Construction Interruption......
Fairmount Park has announced another week of closures due to construction (May 23-27). We recommend that you keep off the path between 6 am and 3 pm to avoid running into heavy trucks. If you have a comment about the closures, you can make one directly to Schuylkill River Development Corporation, here or start a thread on our message board.
Schuylkill Tidal Paddle
On June 11th, Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC) and the Schuylkill Sojourn (the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area) are co-sponsoring a Lower Schuylkill tidal paddle. You must register by May 27th to participate. To register, use this brochure. The tidal paddle will start at Bartram's Garden and go up to the Fairmount Water Works and back.
