Wow! Real asphalt! CSX improved upon its previous improvement (made in June at our request) by laying down asphalt on its property between the crossings and the path and streets. We saw it on Race Street and on Locust. Thank you CSX for making the crossing experience even easier on the feet and seat! Now that CSX took the first step, it is time to connect the path to the Street!
Want to tell CSX how much you like the asphalt on the crossings? Make a comment below. We'll get the comments to the CSX VP responsible for making this happen!
This is great. In an era of things only getting half done I was prepared with Russell Meddin to get some top soil and/or clay to stabilize the remaining loose gravel adjacent to and inbetween the recently installed rubber pads at the crossings. A nice gesture on the part of CSX to make a smooth crossing for all to use. Thank you CSX

Greetings Sodales!
It's nice to see that the CSX railroad has paved the spaces between the
tracks at the grade crossing at 25th and Locust leading to the river bike trail.
The space immediately adjacent to the rails was done with a rubberized material.
The section leading up to the tracks was done with standard asphalt. The
CSX did a good job for us and deserve our appreciation.
Now when can we expect the folks in charge of the bike path to get the paving
done from the part that the CSX did to the river trail and to the
sidewalk of 25th St? These unpaved areas are currently covered by large, sharp
stones that are very inimicable to bicycle tires even when one walks the bike
across them. Who is responsible for paving these short areas? The Fairmount Park
Commission? The owners ofthe Locust Point high rise building that is adjacent?
Someone else? Inquiring minds want to know!
Thank you for giving this message your attention.
Most cordially,
Rudy Masciantonio

Dr. Masciantonio,
The Streets Department is the resonsible agency who must finish the paving. We are in the process of sending them a formal letter asking them to complete the paving and get rid of the bluestone. We will post on our main website the request letter as soon as it is sent off to the Department. Thank you for writing!
